Wanda Icardi insists husband Mauro Icardi was wanted by Juventus and Napoli, with the Bianconeri keen to capture the player 'regardless of the price'.

The Inter forward was heavily linked with a number of clubs this summer, but looks set to sign a renewal at San Siro.

“This year Juventus tried to him regardless of the price," agent and wife Wanda Icardi has reiterated to infobae.com this week.

"And so did Napoli. But the important thing is that the tension with Inter only lasted for whilst negotiations were ongoing, but today everything is just fine. They are all happy, because Mauro wanted to stay."

Predictably dodging the question of how much she took from the deal, Wanda joked about the pair's joint finances.

"The same as any representative. What is the percentage that belongs to me? Everything that is Mauro’s is mine, we got married!

“I do not want talk about my numbers, because I do not want to annoy my colleagues.

“Everything is paid by the club, of course. My husband does not owe me anything."

Many have expressed surprise that Icardi has not received a call-up to the Argentina squad, and his wife also took the opportunity to comment on his exclusion.

"The call will come when it comes. Mauro is the best number nine that they could possibly have. Edgardo Bauza spoke highly of him. Enough waiting."

The 29-year-old reflected in the interview on shielding her footballer husband from stress associated with negotiating a new deal, by keeping the details from him until the conclusion.

"Mauro did not know anything until I picked up the phone to tell him to leave the kids and come and sign. I avoid stressing him out.

“He trusts me one hundred percent. He arrived at the moment of signing in an atmosphere of laughter and celebration, because the worst is was over and he was impressed what I asked for. Of course I respect and listen to pretty much whatever he wants, but I'm his wife: who better than I know what makes him happy?"

She also gave the reporter some insight on how the couple find a work-life balance, citing walking the dog as an example.

"You have to separate the two things. There were days when I fought with Mauro over who had to walk the dog as in the afternoon I had to make business calls."

Wanda concluded with an insight on how she copes with being a young female in the male-orientated world of football agents.

"It’s very difficult, because it's a man's world, where us women also try to discredit each other when it comes to football.”
