Riccardo Montolivo promises Milan will “let the pitch speak” and praises new Coach Vincenzo Montella.

The Rossoneri are once again out of European competition altogether this season, with L’Aeroplanino replacing Cristian Brocchi on the bench.

“We must let the pitch speak,” Montolivo told Milan TV.

“Montella? He definitely has a lot of experience, he has precise ideas of how he wants to play and we’re trying to take them on board as quickly as possible, things like possession and playing between the lines.

“We must let the pitch speak,” Montolivo told Milan TV.

“Montella? He definitely has a lot of experience, he has precise ideas of how he wants to play and we’re trying to take them on board as quickly as possible, things like possession and playing between the lines.

“He’s trying to get that across to us, and we hope to do well. He’s done well in recent years.

“The potential sale? I’m not thinking about it, we have to be focused on the pitch and playing. The certainty for us is that President [Silvio] Berlusconi made Milan and if he decides to sell it will be to people who he believes can make Milan great again.”

The Rossoneri fly out to America today for the International Champions Cup, though Carlos Bacca has been left at home.

“He’s happy to get started again and to train. I think it was a wise decision to have a real pre-season, rather than a game every three days.

“I think it was the right choice for both him and [Mattia] De Sciglio to stay at Milanello and train.

“The tour? They [the games] will be an important test for all of us. The basic idea is to find our best condition and apply the basic concepts of Coach Montella.

“We’ll be facing some of the strongest teams in Europe and we’ll do our best.”
