Marek Hamsik dedicates his Slovakia goal to the Napoli fans and dismisses talks of a transfer.

The midfielder scored one of Euro 2016's best goals so far in the 2-1 over Russia, prompting his Coach to suggest that the Partenopei weren't a big enough club for a player of Hamsik's class.

“Of course that's not the case, I have no grumblings about where I am,” said the 28-year-old, as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport. “I still have two years on my contract, so my future is still with Napoli. There's the Champions League to be played and we all want to do well.

“The club is moving in the right way, and they're aiming ever higher. Of course, you all know that these things don't depend on me alone, but for my own part I've had no strange thoughts. I doubt the club had any either.

“Not to mention the Neapolitan fans, who are always incredible. I meet them everywhere, even here in France. In fact, I want to thank them publicly because I can't answer everyone.

“They keep sending me messages of love and encouragement. Let's put it this way, my goal against Russia is dedicated to them too.

“Sure, I may have scored goals like that one in Italy, but this is a special stage. I hope to score more, and then keep doing that with Napoli. Perhaps in the Champions League.”
