A series of poor results under new Coach Cristian Brocchi has seen Sassuolo leap-frog the Diavolo into sixth, with some fans even suggesting that the club hierarchy doesn’t want to enter the Europa League preliminaries.

“There is great desire,” De Sciglio insisted in an interview with Milan Channel.

“We can’t afford to risk the possibility of playing in Europe only on the Coppa Italia. Our first goal is to get there through the League.

“We have to take back sixth-place, going on to the pitch with a different attitude. We’ve always spoken, but failed to back it up with facts.

“We must give something more, we’ve been out of Europe for three years now, and for a club like Milan that can’t happen.”

The Italian international believes that the final two games will actually serve as good preparation for the cup final.

“Every game is important, but playing Roma the game before the Coppa Italia will be a great motivation, and will help us keep concentration at the maximum ahead of Juventus.

“We’ll be prepared if we work well in the coming days and in the final League matches, we can’t make the mistake of turning our attention to the Coppa Italia final already.”
