The Rosanero President was incensed after Carpi’s 1-0 win over Empoli yesterday, slamming referee Paolo Valeri in a statement on the club’s official website.

The patron has also spoken to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli today, and is insistent that referees are trying to relegate his side.

“Seeing what happened in Carpi-Empoli is absurd,” Zamparini fumed.

“I hope that the institutions will be monitoring the last few matches. This refereeing has compromised our salvation, and we know that there’s been some unpleasantness in football in the past…

“I fear they want to send Palermo to Serie B, indeed that’s what they’re doing! I don’t know why, but that’s what’s going on.

“I hope Juventus want to celebrate their Scudetto with a win [against Carpi]. I’m scandalised by what happened against Empoli.

“I’m speaking very strongly because I want to be protected in this run-in. You continue to say the referees are in good faith? Go to Hell!

“We must get back to following the example of English football, there could never be a story like Leicester [City] in Italy.

“It’s not by chance that in our history the only surprises, with Cagliari and Verona [Scudetto winners in 1970 and 1985 respectively], were when there was a random draw [of referees].

“Our football is completely rotten and inefficient. And the system has to be changed.”
