The Colombian striker earned the praise of Coach Vincenzo Montella for his performance, as he was instrumental in getting his team back on track in the standings.

“I didn't celebrate after the goal,” he told the Press. “I'm emerging from a difficult moment in which I didn't play very much.

“Even though this was more of an own-goal, it was a liberation for me. When I saw the ball going into the net, I just felt thankful.

“Today's victory was important. We're taking our distance from the danger zone.

“Now we can play the next few games with greater peace of mind.”

Muriel was then asked about his position on the pitch.

“I like to play behind the striker, it gives me freedom of movement. I tried doing what the Coach asked of me. I was a bit short of oxygen, but now I want to find my continuity after this performance.”

Udinese were playing against Di Natale, and the Sampdoria striker admitted this was an influential factor.

“He's a great player. I'm certain that once he's back to playing, he'll lend them a great hand.”
