Roma striker Marco Borriello says that he has not been contacted over any possible transfer and that he hopes for a ‘chance on the pitch’.

The 32-year-old had been increasingly suggested as on the verge of again returning to Genoa this month, as cover for the injured Alessandro Matri.

However, with the Grifone instead closing in on Milan’s M'Baye Yiang, Borriello has taken to Twitter to downplay the breakdown of his deal.

“There's talk of failed negotiations, but the truth is only one: nobody got in touch with me, I never received any offers, and I never refused anyone. Forwards!” posted the forward.

“I have been training for seven months, concentrated, with drive and passion… I trust in being given a chance on the pitch.”
