Adel Taarabt’s agent said whether his Milan move becomes permanent depends on “if Clarence Seedorf remains.”

The Moroccan international arrived on loan from QPR via Fulham in January and scored on his Serie A debut against Napoli.

“He was benched for two games in a row purely due to his fitness levels,” agent Vincenzo Morabito told MilanNews.it.

“We should take into account the fact this lad hasn’t played very much this season, so he was lacking fuel and needed a rest to recover.”

There were reports that Taarabt’s contract included a clause automatically making the move permanent if he played a certain number of games.

“That’s not true. Clearly everyone was surprised by his great start and expected him to continue as an undisputed first pick, but he just needed to catch his breath.

“Milan now need calm. We’ll see how the season ends and what happens with the Coach, so if Seedorf remains or not and the choices made by the club.

“They will plan out their transfer strategy with a list of players to sign or sell. As of today, Taarabt has a good chance of staying with the Rossoneri.”
