Mauricio Isla’s proposed switch from Juventus to Inter has been placed on hold after further talks between the two rivals.

The Nerazzurri have been in negotiations with the Old Lady in an attempt to sign their share in a player who is co-owned with Udinese.

There was confidence at the start of this week that a deal was just days away, but the Chilean continues to train with the Italian champions.

“There is still work to do for Isla,” Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio told Sport Italia. “As with all important transfers, a bit of time is needed…”

It is unclear why negotiations have stalled with a number of theories being speculated in the Italian media.

There are suggestions that Udinese have complicated matters, while another possibility is that Juve boss Antonio Conte is considering giving Isla a second chance in Turin.

“Only one thing is certain with regards to Mauricio,” the right-sided player’s agent Claudio Vagheggi noted.

“He will either play for Inter or Juventus next season. I want to make that clear to everybody.”
