The captain’s stunning form has raised debate over whether or not he should be recalled for the 2014 World Cup.
“Cesare Prandelli knows him very well, so if he said these things it means he had reason to,” noted Conti on Yahoo Eurosport.
“I don’t want to be biased, but I can assure you that seeing Totti train every day you’d think he was still a kid.
“When Francesco puts an idea in his head, he achieves it. Now that he is 36 years old, he knows how to train in order to be more effective and you can see the results.
“Just look at what he did against Parma apart from the goal, when he ran all the way up the pitch to get the free kick.”
Totti is now the second all-time top scorer in Serie A history with 226 goals, trailing only Silvio Piola’s 274.
“Now he has Piola’s record in his mind and in my view he has the time to match it. Does he intend to come back to international duty? I don’t know, but I do know he could easily manage it.
“Totti would be an added bonus of great quality that in a competition like the World Cup can make a big difference.”
