Luciano Spalletti has thrown his hat into the ring of contenders for the vacant managerial post with the Russian national team.
The Italian Coach has been working in the country with Zenit St Petersburg since 2009 and has so far picked up four trophies with the team, including two League titles.
Mentioned as one of the candidates to succeed Dick Advocaat, who has returned to club football with PSV Eindhoven, the former Roma boss was enthusiastic.

Mentioned as one of the candidates to succeed Dick Advocaat, who has returned to club football with PSV Eindhoven, the former Roma boss was enthusiastic.
“For me it would be a real pleasure to coach Russia, it would be a great honour for me, even if I know it would be a really tough job,” Spalletti told his club’s official website this week.
“I would think about the difficulties of coaching the national team when I had to face them. But if my boss [Zenit owner Alexei] Miller has made a decision [that I cannot do it], I just do what he says.”
Fabio Capello has also been linked with the job, but his son and agent yesterday denied the reports.
