Catania have refused to release Vincenzo Montella to take the Roma job, but could change their minds for €2.5m.
“Montella has repeatedly told me he has a weakness for the Giallorossi, but he knows perfectly well that he signed a contract,” said President Antonino Pulvirenti this weekend.
“I received a phone call at the start of the week from Roma and I told them at this moment I am not taking into consideration the idea of giving away my Coach.”
It is now reported that Pulvirenti has set a €2.5m price-tag to release Montella from his contract a year early.
Roma are said to be considering this, although they also have sacked Chelsea boss Andre Villas Boas on stand-by.
“Montella will be ready for the challenge, as he was born to be a Coach,” said Catania defender Nicola Legrottaglie.
“He already showed great quality and can become a reference point in the capital.”
