German Denis has no interest in outscoring Milan’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic this weekend. “I just want Atalanta to win.”
Serie A’s top two scorers will clash in Bergamo as Denis, with 12 goals, comes up against a Rossoneri side who have been pushed up the table by Ibra’s 11 strikes.
“The game is Atalanta versus Milan and not Denis versus Ibrahimovic,” said the former Napoli and Udinese striker.
“It will be great if I do manage to score on Sunday, but the important thing is that Atalanta actually win the match.”
Denis has fond memories of playing against the Diavolo and his late strike almost secured a famous win for Udinese in last January’s thrilling 4-4 draw.
“I know how to score against Milan as I have already done that,” continued the South American striker.
“Last year I put Udinese 4-3 up [in the 89th minute] at San Siro, but then Ibrahimovic invented that goal [in minute 93]…”
Milan are joint top of the table with Juventus, while Atalanta are 11th. However, if you discount their six point penalty, the Nerazzurri would actually be joint fifth with Inter.
