Delio Rossi has called for a ‘perfect game’ from his Fiorentina players ahead of Tuesday night’s derby with Siena.

La Viola were only able to draw with Atalanta” data-scaytid=”11″>Atalanta at the weekend in their final home match of the calendar year. With just two wins collected from the last 12 rounds of League action, the team now finds itself in 15th place, five points above the relegation zone.

Following on from President Mario Cognigni’s declaration that ‘It’s up to the players to prove their worth’ in Tuesday’s Tuscan derby, Rossi has left team selection up in the air. However, he also refused to go as far as Cognigni in placing as much worth on the meeting with Giuseppe Sannino’s side.

“We’ll have to play a perfect game, but I do not know yet who will play,” admitted Rossi as he confirmed Riccardo Montolivo has recovered to full fitness whilst fitness doubts remain on Amidu Salifu.

“Motivation varies from player to player. For some it requires the carrot and stick, with others it does not. I would prefer players with inbuilt motivation but it is not always the case. He who is born round cannot die square. At this time I am assessing things.

“I wouldn’t call this a decisive game, I do not like this talk, no game is decisive. Perhaps the last one of the season is, but not now.”

Rossi also appealed to the fans to support the team through this difficult patch of form.

“Those who pay are always right. The only recommendation I make is that as long as the ball rolls is that they support the team. By nature they should be behind the team, always. I would like it as it is in England, with more support.”
