Gigi Buffon has confirmed that he will be in goal for an Antonio Conte led Juventus next season – although he did have some small doubts about his Turin future.

The goalkeeper was strongly linked with a summer move to Roma, but he has today insisted that he will remain in Turin.

"I never felt dumped by the club, as I'm sure they would have told me first," the Italian international noted.

"However, there was a point in the season when I did wonder whether we could continue to work together. But then the recent statements confirmed their faith in me."

Buffon added that he did discuss his future with Roma captain Francesco Totti.

"I often hear from Totti," he added. "He is a friend and we talk about a variety of things. It's only normal to discuss certain problems and certain possibilities.

"I did talk to him about possibly leaving, but my choice was and will always be Juventus."

Reservations about Buffon's future also revolved around the fact that he did struggle for form over the last campaign.

"I'm quite critical of myself and all I will say is that I have done all that I can this season," he insisted. "After all, I was out injured for six months.

"I won't argue with anyone who may claim that Juventus lost five games in a row because of me, but I only made one decisive error and that was against Milan."

Buffon will now defend an Old Lady side that will be bossed by a former teammate in the shape of Conte.

"The next few months will tell us whether he is the right choice, but his CV is known to everyone," the 'keeper said of the man who has replaced Gigi Del Neri.

"As a Coach he has always achieved the objectives that he targeted, he's a winner.

"As a player he was very charismatic and positive. He knows the environment well too. But there is a big gap from that to winning.

"He'll need every player to be at his disposal and especially the support of the club. Without a strong club behind you a Coach won't win anything."
