Goalscorer Wesley Sneijder feels the Marassi result is “the most important victory” for Inter.

They ended their taboo that has seen them fail to beat Sampdoria for two seasons, securing a 2-0 win this evening.

“It was a very important win, in fact the most important victory for us, as we had to make up for the defeat against Bayern Munich,” said the Dutchman.

“We played well right from the start, keeping a logical outlook and in the end deserved all three points.”

Sneijder curled in a wonderful free kick before Samuel Eto'o secured the result in stoppages.

This also temporarily puts the Nerazzurri in second place ahead of Monday night's showdown between Milan and Napoli.

“Now we are two points off Milan and one in front of Napoli, which is a good position to be in.”
