Lazio are now looking around for a new head coach after Maurizio Sarri decided to hand in his resignation, drawing up three options.

The 65-year-old Italian coach unexpectedly handed in his letter of resignation at the Biancocelesti on Tuesday afternoon, less than 24 hours after the team’s painful 2-1 loss to relegation candidates Udinese at the Stadio Olimpico.

Whilst Sarri found success during his first two years at Lazio, the team’s form began to collapse over the course of this season, increasing the pressure on the coach and his players. Their Champions League exit to Bayern Munich and poor results in Serie A ultimately spoilt the party in Rome.

Gianluca Di Marzio details how Lazio have started to consider possible options to replace Sarri in the dugout, drawing up a list of three interesting candidates – Tommaso Rocchi, Miroslav Klose and Cristian Brocchi.

The Biancocelesti have accepted Sarri’s resignation and have been informed that Klose would be willing to sign a six-month contract. Talks are ongoing with the other two candidates as president Claudio Lotito looks to quickly fill the void in the dugout.
