The left-back has had a fine season in Bergamo which has seen him attract the attention of bigger top-flight clubs.

“I’m really happy with his performances over the last two seasons,” the tactician said of the 28-year-old.

“He’s really improved and he has become an important player. He can also play as a central defender and there are few stoppers in Italy with his kind of characteristics.

“I don’t know if there are any negotiations going on about his future, but I’d be happy if he stays and happy for him should he get the chance to join Juventus.”

The Roman moved to Atalanta in January 2009 after spells at Pro Vercelli, Ternana and Albinoleffe.
