Bologna midfielder Erick Pulgar is the first Serie A player since Giuseppe Pancaro in December 1996 to score an own goal and convert a penalty in the same match.

The Chile international achieved the feat during Bologna’s 3-2 victory away to Torino this evening.

He accidentally gave Torino the lead within six minutes by redirecting Cristian Ansaldi’s shot to wrong-foot Lukasz Skorupski.

The Chile international achieved the feat during Bologna’s 3-2 victory away to Torino this evening.

He accidentally gave Torino the lead within six minutes by redirecting Cristian Ansaldi’s shot to wrong-foot Lukasz Skorupski.

Before the half was up, Pulgar had gone from zero to hero, converting the penalty at the other end past Salvatore Sirigu.

The last player to hit both these targets during the same Serie A game was Cagliari defender Pancaro in a 1-1 draw with Reggiana in December 1996.
