The English Press believes Milan striker Gonzalo Higuain wants to join Chelsea, who are ‘stepping up their efforts’.
Marca reported late on Tuesday that Chelsea were ‘hours away’ from signing Higuain, although Sky Sport Italia riposted the Blues board were not keen on spending so much on a player over 30.
Now the Evening Standard has come forward, stating Maurizio Sarri has ‘pressed’ the Londoners to make another move for the Argentine.

Now the Evening Standard has come forward, stating Maurizio Sarri has ‘pressed’ the Londoners to make another move for the Argentine.
The newspaper explains ‘negotiations are ongoing and are complicated’, with Juve wanting Chelsea to essentially take over Milan’s loan and €36m obligation to buy.
Sarri’s side, on the other hand, would prefer to sign the 31-year-old on a ‘short-term deal’.
Higuain has scored eight goals for the Rossoneri this season but was publicly criticised by sporting director Leonardo, while the publication agrees they are ‘increasingly frustrated’ with the former Napoli hitman.
It is also understood his arrival at Stamford Bridge would allow ex-Juventus forward Alvaro Morata to join Sevilla.
