Roberto Donadoni reveals why Simone Verdi was wearing the captain’s armband as Bologna swept Benevento aside 3-0.

Blerim Dzemaili returned from a brief spell in MLS with Montreal Impact and was immediately on target in the 3-0 victory.

“We played well and it wasn’t easy against a Benevento side that was coming off two consecutive wins,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“It was a strong start to the game, then we were fortunate to avoid conceding on the counter-attack, but largely controlled the match. I am happy for Dzemaili and things went well, even if we can still improve in many areas.”

Verdi had his first game since rejecting a January transfer to Napoli and was rewarded with the captain’s armband.

“Antonio Mirante gave Verdi the armband as a show of faith and we are happy about that. I am very happy that Verdi has remained, because we often see players who are insulted when they decide to change club, yet he’s being insulted for not moving. It’s still a profession and everyone needs to see it that way.”
