Despite repeatedly denying he is seeking a return to the bench, it was thought he could change his mind to mentor Fabio Cannavaro, but the former England manager insists his position hasn’t changed.

“The national team doesn’t interest me,” Capello reiterated to Sky.

“I’m inflexible. I haven’t spoken to [FIGC President Carlo] Tavecchio and we won’t speak in future.”

Dutch legend Johan Cruyff passed away earlier today after a battle with cancer, and Capello paid tribute to the icon.

“Cruyff was the best player in the history of European football. He invented football and was a leader on the pitch.”
