Last night the club held its annual Christmas dinner, and the patron gave a speech to the squad.

Captain Pepe Reina also then gave a speech, with all the players present other than Faouzi Ghoulam, who had been given permission from the club not to attend.
The left-back is out with a cruciate ligament injury, and is a practicing Muslim, so he was excused from the Christmas dinner.
