Clement Turpin has been assigned to officiate the Europa League quarter-final battle between Milan and Roma, so who is the French referee?

The Rossoneri and Giallorossi are ready to battle it out in the first leg of their last-eight tie in the Europa League, which kicks off at 20.00 UK time at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. The clash is their first meeting in the cup for almost two decades.

Milan and Roma have already faced each other twice in Serie A this term, with Stefano Pioli’s side getting the edge in both meetings. Things are different now, however, as Daniele De Rossi has rejuvenated the Romans since his arrival back in January.

Milan vs Roma: Who is referee Turpin?

Overseeing the Europa League quarter-final tie between Milan and Roma is 41-year-old French referee Clement Turpin. An experienced official, he’s previously been involved in the 2022 Champions League final, 2021 Europa League final and 2016 Coupe de France final.

Turpin has overseen four Milan matches in the past – a 2-0 loss to Arsenal in 2018, a 1-1 draw with Porto in 2021, a 0-0 draw with Tottenham last year and the 1-0 loss to Inter in the Champions League semi-final last year.

The French referee has officiated three Roma games before – a 2-1 win over Feyenoord in 2015, a 3-0 win over Barcelona in 2018 and a 2-0 loss to Real Madrid in 2018.
