Daniele De Rossi made it clear that Roma weren’t distracted by their wins over Lazio and Milan ahead of their clash against Udinese and he provided a positive update on Tammy Abraham.

The Giallorossi have been flying high since the arrival of the former midfielder back in January and their strong form has continued in recent days, with the club edging out a 1-0 Derby della Capitale win over Lazio before picking up a 1-0 win over Milan in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie.

De Rossi still hasn’t penned a new long-term contract with Roma but is looking increasingly likely to stay at the helm for the near future, having already proven himself an exciting up-and-coming coach in the dugout. Fiorentina have also registered their interest in the 2006 World Cup winner.

De Rossi comments

Speaking to Roma’s media department via Di Marzio, De Rossi first discussed why the squad entered a training retreat in Monzello.

“We saved a trip, we were together, we enjoyed this beautiful sports centre. We thank Galliani, Palladino and compliment the beauty of the sports centre.”

He provided an update on the conditions of Paulo Dybala, Lorenzo Pellegrini and Leonardo Spinazzola.

“I plan to hear how they are and to protect them from some issues that in the past forced us to do without them. We come from two intense matches from a physical and mental point of view, some have some issues and I’ll have to take them into account.

“The difference is not made by an individual player, but by the attitude of the team. We have in our eyes both wins against Lazio and Milan, but also the match in Lecce. We must not repeat the attitude of Lecce.”

Finally, De Rossi discussed the health of Tammy Abraham.

“Let’s see, he’s getting better and better. He always trains continuously. From the point of view of release, strength, sprint, I can see he’s doing very well.

“In managing the workload, obviously after 10 months he loses clarity, and we must accompany him to the best psycho-athletic condition on the pitch and get him back at 100%.”
