Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis is planning to extend Coach Maurizio Sarri's contract to shield him from Roma and Milan.

While the Partenopei are still sitting on sixth in the standings, their recent performances and in particular the 4-0 stomping of Milan have been so strong that a new deal could already be on the way for Sarri.

According to CalcioNapoli24.it, De Laurentiis is planning to extend Sarri's contract, which currently is set for only one season, with an option to renew every year for up to five consecutive years.

According to CalcioNapoli24.it, De Laurentiis is planning to extend Sarri's contract, which currently is set for only one season, with an option to renew every year for up to five consecutive years.

On the back of Sarri's strong performances, the contract may be changed to a two-year deal, with his salary incresed from €700,000 to €1.2m. The new deal would be signed by the end of December.

The move would help Napoli defend their Coach from the interest of a number of potential suitors, in particular Milan and Roma.
