He was only recalled for Thursday’s 2-0 Europa League victory over Spurs because Ciprian Tatarusanu is out injured.

“So much has been said about me. For example, people claimed I did not sign a renewal because I was unhappy at Fiorentina, but that is not the case,” Neto told Brazil’s Globoesporte.

“I chose what I thought was best for me. Some fans didn’t take it very well, but this is football.

“Tottenham was a very important game. I will honour my contract to the end, that is the most professional approach I could take.

“Everyone agrees with my decision at the club, then I’ll see what to do in future.”
