Fiorentina President Andrea Della Valle said they leave the Coppa Italia Final “with heads held high.”

The Viola lost 3-1 to Napoli in Rome last night, but wasted a golden opportunity to make it 2-2 late on with Josip Ilicic.

“I cannot complain about the team’s performance and we leave with heads held high. We’ve been in the top spots for a while now and with a few additions we’ll also be competitive for Champions League positions.

“Ilicic? We have to get over that error, but we cannot blame him for the defeat.”

Giuseppe Rossi made his comeback after four months, but Mario Gomez was injured and Juan Guillermo Cuadrado suspended.

“We could’ve done with Cuadrado tonight,” confessed Della Valle. “We have to resolve the problem with Udinese.”

The Colombian international is co-owned between Fiorentina and Udinese, but is reportedly at the centre of a €30m bidding war with the likes of Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
