Gasp: 'Toro are Genoa springboard'

Genoa are one of the form teams in Serie A and Gian Piero Gasperini believes tonight’s game with Torino is “another springboard.”

The Week 14 fixture kicks off at Marassi at 19.45 GMT, click here for a match preview.

“We know the characteristics of Torino, who can adopt several different tactical systems, but always with a lot of possession, building the move from defence to attack and dangerous on the break,” said the Genoa Coach.

“It is a delicate game, one that can represent another springboard against one of the teams that plays the best football.”

The Grifone are in fine form, notching up 10 points from the last four Serie A matches, including a 1-1 draw at Milan with 10 men for almost an hour.

“The team is giving its all in terms of effort, but we can raise the bar in terms of quality and precision,” continued Gasperini.

“Serie A is very finely balanced, so it’s very fast to go up or down. Let’s not forget when we did win games, we rarely dominated them.”

Genoa squad for Torino: Antonelli, Antonini, Bertolacci, Biondini, Bizzarri, Calaiò, Centurion, Cofie, De Maio, Donnarumma, Fetfatzidis, Gamberini, Gilardino, Konate, Kucka, Lodi, Marchese, Matuzalem, Perin, Portanova, Sampirisi, Santana, Stoian, Vrsaljko
