This would be the first Serie A management experience for the former West Ham United boss, who worked briefly as co-Coach with Pierluigi Casiraghi of the Under-21 Italy side in 2006.
According to numerous sources, a meeting with De Canio was held on Friday in which he agreed to take over on a contract to the end of the season.
