Gianfranco Zola inevitably had regrets at Cagliari’s last-gasp defeat to Atalanta. “I thought we’d go on to win.”
The game was all square on 1-1 until Mauricio Pinilla – a former Cagliari star – netted with a spectacular scissor-kick volley at the 94th minute.
“In the last 25 minutes of the game, I thought we’d go on to win, because we seemed to be in complete control of the situation,” Zola told Rai Sport.

“We weren’t precise enough when finishing and then Pinilla scored that extraordinary goal at the end. We were naive, because we knew the dangers that Atalanta represented and six minutes of stoppages felt a bit much too.
“It’s a shame, as the result was far too harsh for my team.”
