“The game against Inter comes at a bad time for us, there’s no point denying it,” said Zola in a Press conference.
“A victory would be fundamental, especially in light of this weekend’s results with Chievo and Atalanta losing.
“We need to be very focused on Inter and try at all costs to keep the initiative in our hands. If, as we did against Torino, we let ourselves get pushed back into our own half, we’ll be tortured.
“When we get our heads into the right space to attack and take the initiative, we become a completely different team.”
Zola has several injury concerns to deal with, as Albin Ekdal has flu, Marco Capuano and Marco Sau are carrying knocks.
“Obviously the Inter players I am most concerned about are the three protagonists in attack: Palacio, Icardi and Shaqiri.
“They are in stunning form and their many goals scored recently are confirmation. It’s true they concede a great deal to their opponents, as they did against Celtic.
“I can say one thing for certain: I want to win this game and will not just sit back and watch Inter play.”
Cagliari had other problems today, as their pitch at Assemini was waterlogged, so they opted to drive 100km away to Oristano for training.
