Zlatan Ibrahimovic sarcastically responded to confusion about his Sweden at no-show the World Cup. “They’re better off without Zlatan…”
Ibrahimovic suggested he would come out of international retirement to represent Italy’s playoff opponents in Russia, but Sweden CT Janne Andersson made it clear there was no going back for the former Juventus, Milan and Inter striker, following on from his No 2 goalkeeper.
However, the country’s team manager seemed to contradict the Coach, later claiming that the LA Galaxy hitman had been offered the chance to return.
“I’m not part of the national team and that has been since I stopped, so there’s no issue there. But [am I] going to the World Cup? Yes, I’m going,” he told ESPN, quotes The Mirror.
“That’s what I’ve been saying all the time. I’m flying. Aeroplane and I’m flying. I think Sweden are the favourites to win the World Cup because they’re better without Zlatan.”
The 36-year-old is being speculated to appear at the World Cup as a brand ambassador for Visa.
