Cagliari coach Walter Zenga claims the Rossoblu are aiming to keep players like Nahitan Nandez in order to become a top team.

The Uruguayan midfielder arrived from Boca Juniors last summer and has impressed big time in Serie A, leading to reports regarding a future at the top.

Zenga agrees that Nandez belongs among the elite but insisted he could get their together with the Casteddu.

“Of course [he belongs at a top club], and that club is Cagliari,” Zenga said at a press conference. “We want to keep the players and have a team of that level.”

Nandez has 30 games in Serie A this term and the 24-year-old has so far contributed two goals and four assists.

“We alternate, he plays as a number five, from the inside or in the middle,” Zenga added. “He’s one of those players that allows you to change his role during the game, just like [Marko] Rog.

“He and Marko are two players who give you a lot.”
