Zdenek Zeman and Francesco Totti have rushed to defend Roma man Panagiotis Tachtsidis. “He is sensitive to the jeers of the fans.”
The midfielder has been on the end of harsh chants and criticism from the Stadio Olimpico crowd this season, which has affected his confidence.
“The lad is sensitive and was upset when he was jeered on Sunday,” noted Coach Zeman.
“Some people say he has only played in Serie B, but everyone wanted us to sign Marco Verratti, who had only played in Serie B before going to PSG.
“I often speak to the player and try to reassure him. He now needs to react and prove he belongs at Roma. It’s only natural that the fans are going against him when this duality with Daniele De Rossi has emerged.”
Captain Totti also went to defend Tachtsidis with a message to the supporters on his official website.
“Tachtsidis should be applauded because he is a Roma player. I know that when Taxi is called to play, he will be applauded by the fans, as his difficulties and ours must be overcome together.”
