Former Torino and Lazio defender Roberto Cravero believes that Mauro Zarate would be an ideal January signing for Il Granata.

The 48-year-old has hit out at the Argentine forward's treatment in the capital, and is of the opinion that Giampiero Ventura's side would do well to capture the goalscorer in the winter transfer window.

“Zarate has undoubted quality,” he told Radio Mana Sport. “But he cannot express that at Lazio. The problem is the pressure being exude on him at the club – I don't think many people have enough confidence in the boy.

“For that reason, I think thinking Lazio and signing for Torino would be the right option.

“He would have the backing of the whole club, and would return to the great player we all know he can be.”

The 25-year-old striker has played just one game for the Biancocelesti this season.
