Cristian Zapata believes Milan teammate Alessio Romagnoli can nullify Juventus’ Cristiano Ronaldo and ‘become the best’.
Romagnoli was named Milan’s new captain over the summer and has rescued the Rossoneri on several occasions this season, but the young Italian will face arguably his toughest opponent yet in Ronaldo on Sunday.
“Juve are a strong team in all departments,” Zapata, who could replace the injured Mateo Musacchio against Juve, told Sky Sport Italia.
“They have devastating players and are a complete team. You have to be brave to play in games like these.
“We know that we’ll be facing the best team in Serie A and also in Europe. Higuain is fine, he trained today and is certainly very motivated for this game.
“It would be great if he could score and if we won thanks to that goal. Ronaldo is a player who can hurt you as soon as he’s in a bit of space.
“I marked him when I played for Villarreal. On that occasion against Real Madrid, I was a full-back.
“I remember in that game, I couldn’t get away from him. He was also a bit angry towards the end.
“He’s a player out of the ordinary, but Romagnoli’s a player who’s improved a lot in recent years.
“The captain’s armband has also empowered him. He’s a true leader. He can become the best.”
