Inter's Javier Zanetti says he is desperate to return to action – but he won’t rush his comeback from an Achilles tendon injury.
The Argentine, now 40-years-old, is on the mend after suffering the serious setback in April 2013.
“My latest medical checks went well, now I’ll increase the workload so I can get back to my best,” he stated.

“My latest medical checks went well, now I’ll increase the workload so I can get back to my best,” he stated.
“By November? We’ll see. The main thing is to come back in the right state. As soon as possible, but in the right state. I really miss being on the pitch.”
Zanetti has been used in a variety of positions since joining the club in 1995 and he’s placed himself at the total disposal of new boss Walter Mazzarri.
“I’ll play wherever he thinks is best,” the veteran continued after seeing his side collect two wins and a draw from their first three League games.
“The Mazzarri-Inter project has started well,” he added. “I’m happy for the Coach, who didn’t have an easy task, and happy for my teammates who are doing well.
“I knew about Mazzarri’s ability and dedication to his work – and he’s shown it’s for real.”
The Nerazzurri impressed on Saturday in the 1-1 draw with champions Juventus. That performance led Juve boss Antonio Conte to name the Beneamata as a Scudetto contender.
“It’s too soon to talk about that,” Zanetti continued. “It means a lot coming from Antonio, but we’ll see at the end of the season.”
