Javier Zanetti has accepted defeat at Atalanta – although he has argued that Inter perhaps deserved more.

The Nerazzurri’s run of 10 straight wins came to an end in Bergamo on Sunday night when they were defeated 3-2.

“Atalanta played well and you have to accept the result,” the legendary captain told Inter Channel after the tie.

“Admittedly they had us under some pressure at times, but we responded superbly and Andrea Consigli pulled off a string of great saves for them.

“They scored their second and third goals when we were on top, but that’s part of the game and it won’t alter the path we're on.

“We did well fitness-wise, it was a hard-fought game, played at a high intensity and with plenty of chances.

“Both ‘keepers made some top saves and there were lots of goals, but we knew it would be difficult at this stadium and against this team.

“I think saying we weren't lucky could be an excuse. That’s not the way I usually look at things. I accept the defeat even though it could have finished differently and either side could have won.”
