Maurizio Zamparini claims Palermo “had a deal” with Antonio Cassano, and confirms Mario Balotelli talks.

The Rosanero failed to bring in a striker in the transfer window, but the club’s President insists it wasn’t for lack of trying.

“We were negotiating with Balotelli,” Zamparini confirmed on Radio Action.

“We reached €1.5m and then he went to Nice for €4m. Cassano said yes, it was all done, we had a financial agreement and I considered him an important player for [Coach Davide] Ballardini.

“That went wrong too though, so we’ll be on our toes and we’ll see what happens in January.”

Cassano remained with Sampdoria, but he has been frozen out and won't be able to play as he's not on the Serie A squad list.
