Maurizio Zamparini criticises Frank Cascio’s failed bid to buy Palermo but admits talks with a Chinese consortium over a possible sale are ongoing.

The Rosaneri President is looking to sell the Sicilian club, with American businessman Cascio writing a letter to fans on Sunday to officially announce his withdrawal from negotiations.

However, in an interview with Giornale Di Sicilia, the 75-year-old revealed that while Cascio’s bid was never likely to succeed, talks with the unnamed Chinese group are progressing well.

However, in an interview with Giornale Di Sicilia, the 75-year-old revealed that while Cascio’s bid was never likely to succeed, talks with the unnamed Chinese group are progressing well.

“I’m not commenting on Cascio’s offer,” Zamparini stated. “On his and his consortium’s part, really the guarantees haven’t ever come from them.

“The Chinese officials will be here next week and we will continue the talks that have already begun.

“There is trust, of course, otherwise i wouldn’t be taking these talks forward. Of course it will take a while.

“For the moment they are going forward, there is no problem from that point of view.”
