Nicolo Fagioli is expected to learn the full extent of his punishment for his involvement in Italian football’s illegal betting scandal by the end of this week according to reports on Tuesday morning, as the 22-year-old looks to reduce his expected ban.

Full-scale investigations into alleged illegal betting activity from the Italian players Fagioli, Sandro Tonali and Nicolo Zaniolo are underway, but for the Juventus midfielder, a ban at this stage is practically an inevitability.

However, for Fagioli, who confessed to his gambling addiction before questioning from the Turin Prosecutor’s office and from the FIGC, there is likely to be a reduced sentence.

Having admitted to his wrongdoing, the typical ban of three years could be reduced by half, or even by just one year according to Tuesday’s reports from Calciomercato.com.

Either way, it is expected that Fagioli will be unavailable for club or country for the remainder of the 2023-24 season at a minimum.
