Real Madrid have already booked their Champions League Round of 16 spot and despite today’s setback, Napoli could join them in the next match.

The Partenopei were held to a 1-1 draw at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona by Leonardo Bonucci’s Union Berlin, the first point the Germans have ever earned in this competition.

This evening, Real Madrid beat SC Braga 3-0, which secured their place in the next phase with 12 points from four matches.

Napoli follow on seven points, Braga have only three and Union Berlin just the one.

Rudi Garcia’s men would automatically qualify in the next game if they beat Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.

Another way of qualifying is to draw in Madrid, which would be enough if Braga also failed to beat Union Berlin.

However, if Napoli fail to win in Madrid and Braga also defeat the Germans, then qualification will go down to the wire.

The showdown would be Napoli-Braga at the Stadio Maradona on December 12.

When these teams met in Portugal, Napoli emerged 2-1 winners on September 20 thanks to an 88th-minute own goal.
