The Inter captain’s wife and agent has been discussing the situation in several interviews over the last few days.
“For Mauro Inter comes first and the rest comes later. I work for what is best for my husband,” she told Qui Studio a Voi Stadio on Telelombardia.
“Mauro has a wonderful rapport with the club, with Roberto Mancini and the fans. He is a real captain.
“The truth is that Mauro turned down the opportunity to play in the Champions League with another club because he loves Inter so much. I spoke to Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid before the renewal last year, but he decided to continue with Mancini.
“Mauro really was on the market and we turned down many clubs. In fact, Juventus and Napoli were also interested in Mauro.
"I know that Inter met with Atletico Madrid last week to discuss Mauro."
Wanda insists Inter promised a year ago to improve his contract once there was more financial stability, so the take-over by Suning should have sparked that move.
“In my view, giving your word means everything and I expect the club to respect their word. I prefer to be honest on Twitter, radio and TV. It’s just what I’m like.
“I was upset by (Inter director Piero) Ausilio’s words. I had already spoken to him. I talked to Ausilio in private today. I think Mauro should not be put at the centre of controversy. Mauro did not like Ausilio’s comments.
“I will certainly need to talk to the new club owners, but I know that Mauro is very much appreciated.”
