Aster Vranckx is undergoing his medical with Milan and will soon be followed by Sergiño Dest.

The Rossoneri are set to complete two more signings on the deadline day. Vranckx arrived at Milan’s La Madonnina Clinic early this morning and the Barcelona defender will follow him later today.

Vranckx joins the Rossoneri on an initial loan deal with an option to buy for circa €12m. It’s the same formula used to get Dest from Barcelona as the Serie A champions have an option of circa €20m to sign the USMNT international permanently in June.

  1. I make that 7 new additions to the first team squad or roughly one third of the first team league winning squad. Probably only one difference maker in De Ketelaere. So much disruption for such little return. Does Dest spell the end for our captain?

  2. Maybe Dest is a luxury signing since Kalulu can be used as fullback (though I think removing him from his center-back position is a stupid move) but how in the world is signing Dest the end of Calabria?

He is a replacement for Florenzi, so backup to right-back, who also will be the first choice backup to Theo and maybe even can play as a better right winger.

Then, if in time, he stays and is so good that he can dislodge Calabria as first choice right-back, I say good for him and Milan. Football is a competitive sport. Calabria should be able to take another step forward and hold down his position, like he usually has done.

  3. @ Milan Fan In summary we now have 5 CBs and 3-4 RBs. Calabria could be our Henderson. Ability is less important than stability. I’ve been wrong about Maldini before and I hope I am again.
