Arturo Vidal confirms he joined Inter primarily because of coach Antonio Conte. ‘I am convinced we’ll be able to lift an important trophy here.’
The 33-year-old returned to Serie A and reunited with Conte after his spell at Juventus from 2011-15, having since played for Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
“I chose Inter because it’s a serious project and a coach who always wants to win,” Vidal told the Corriere dello Sport newspaper.

“I chose Inter because it’s a serious project and a coach who always wants to win,” Vidal told the Corriere dello Sport newspaper.
“This team reached the Europa League Final last season because its players were ‘hungry’ and has everything to achieve something important, and now I’m here too.
“I’m here above all for Conte. We had three years together at Juventus and that was an unforgettable experience. He wanted me too, we talked a lot last summer and the club did everything possible to ensure I joined Inter.
“Conte is the same coach he was at Juventus. He loves football and transmits that passion and desire to win. He gets very angry if you make a mistake and will tell you to your face, in front of everyone.
“I was happy at Barcelona, many teammates became great friends, but things changed and I decided to come here. I am so hungry to win Serie A again and am dreaming of the Champions League trophy. I hope to get a tattoo of it, once I win…”
It won’t be easy, considering Inter are currently bottom of their group following a 3-2 defeat to Real Madrid.
“Qualification is still possible and I am convinced we’ll progress. We’ve dropped two-three points so far and have to get them back.”
The Nerazzurri are above all focused on ending their decade-long Serie A drought, as well as the Juventus hegemony.
“I am not afraid to say the word ‘Scudetto’, because I’ve won a great deal in my career and came to Inter so I can continue winning. I am convinced we’ll be able to lift an important trophy here, although Juve are still the title favourites.
“I’m so impressed with Achraf Hakimi, Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez. If they learn from the coach, we can go far together.”
