Vidal will become only the second player from Chile to wear the Old Lady's shirt after Salas' injury hit spell in Turin from 2001-2003.
"He reminds me of Matias Almeyda for the ruthlessness which he displays on the pitch," the ex-Lazio hitman noted.
"Vidal is a useful player, he's dynamic and has good technique. He's an incredible stealer of balls.
"I think Arturo is the ideal partner for Andrea Pirlo in midfield.
"There is a lot of talk about Vidal and Juventus in Chile. The Bianconeri are one of the most loved and followed here. A lot of people will be very happy with the move."
The 24-year-old is on his way to Turin after a reported €10.5m fee was agreed with Bayer Leverkusen.
The midfielder, who only had a year left on his deal in Germany, is set to sign a five-year contract with La Signora.
