Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal “would give my life on the field for Chile” and can’t wait to take on Spain.
The South Americans beat Australia 3-1 last night to go joint top of Group B with Holland, behind on goal difference.
“Obviously I am lacking match fitness, tempo and consistency, but I am trying to improve,” declared Vidal on his comeback.
He played 60 minutes of the game, having been out for a month following knee surgery.
“I’d give my life on the field for Chile. The important thing was to get back to playing football and I hope to do more in the next match.”
That test will be against Spain, the reigning World and European champions who were thrashed 5-1 by Holland in Group B.
“Spain will have watched our game. They know it will be always difficult for them to play against us.”
