Marco Verratti is out of Italy’s post-season friendlies, having had surgery on a groin injury today.

The Paris Saint-Germain midfielder hasn’t played since the Coupe de la Ligue final on March 31, and with Ligue 1 already wrapped-up he went under the knife today.

“Marco Verratti had an operation on his adductor tendons in Paris today, performed by  Dr Reboul(a member of the Aspetar groin pain center),” PSG confirmed on their official website.

“The operation was a complete success. The date was chosen to allow Marco Verratti to resume the 2018-19 season in the best possible condition.”

The Azzurri face Saudi Arabia, France and the Netherlands across late May and early June, but the operation means Verratti won’t be involved.
