Giampiero Ventura felt Torino “paid for distractions” in their thrilling 2-2 draw with Athletic Bilbao.
It is only the first leg of the Europa League Round of 32, but the Granata have a mountain to climb after conceding two goals on home turf.
“This is football, we paid for distractions,” Coach Ventura told Mediaset Premium.
“In the first half we did some excellent things, the second a little less due to fatigue. We made only a few mistakes, but we paid a heavy price for them.
“Without conceding a proper shot on goal, we still managed to concede two goals and they hit the bar. We created so many chances and didn’t get what we deserved.
“This result complicates matters, but nobody is stopping us from going to Bilbao and getting qualification.
“A game like this can really motivate you and we will go there to play our football. During this match Bilbao changed their defensive system and that is of great credit to my lads.”
